Coaching for High Potential Women

The Glass Ceiling

You have likely noticed that in spite of the fact that women make up 47% of the workforce, they comprise only 12% of the executive ranks and 12.5% of corporate officers. As a talented, achievement oriented woman, you may face unique challenges in your work relationships — with yourself, with other women and with your male colleagues. The danger is that by focusing intensely on your responsibilities and technical skills in the hopes of success, you can be left isolated, unappreciated and stalled. Coaching provides an opportunity to explore these issues in a positive manner — looking at both the organization and at you.

As a female executive, you need:

  • Clear understanding of the requirements of senior leadership roles
  • Realistic appraisal of your talents, strengths and vulnerabilities
  • Direct and constructive feedback
  • Leadership skill development for broader, more complex assignments
  • Skills in the use of power, influence, networking and business generation
  • Strong dialogue and conflict resolution skills
  • Insight into potential self-sabotage
  • Relationship-management support and feedback
  • Tools for dealing with work transitions and stresses

Unique Skills

As a psychologist and executive coach with 25 years experience consulting to business, I have had a depth of experience working with women at every level of organizational life. My doctoral research focused on female development with Dr. Carol Gilligan at the Center for the Study of Gender and Human Development at Harvard University. I have presented widely on female psychological issues. Like many successful women, I lead a full life balancing family, career, community leadership and yoga and skiing.

“I have appreciated our frequent consultations about difficult management and employee situations. The depth of your behavioral science background, as well as your understanding of business is a rare and extremely helpful combination.”
